Julianne McGowan is awarded BELD Scholarship
Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD) has awarded its 2010 Marge Richardson Employee Memorial Scholarship to Braintree resident Julianne McGowan. A June graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, Julianne is headed for Northeastern University this fall, where she’ll study Nursing.
“BELD’s annual scholarship is a long-standing tradition,” said Municipal Light Board Chairman Tony Agnitti during a recent meeting with Vice Chair Jim Regan and Secretary Tom Reynolds. “We’re glad to be able to support Braintree residents who choose to continue their education.”
The Marge Richardson Employee Memorial Scholarship is named after a former employee of Braintree Electric Light Department who held several positions during her 17-year employment and was active in BELD’s union leadership. She also participated in Braintree community affairs for many years.
